Concept of artwork 設計理念:

Bio - My ceramic work is influenced by the frenetic lifestyle of living in a vibrant, unremitting city and the general flux of time. Being a Londoner travelling through prevailing architecture and populous streets, the intentions in my work are to capture this visual data and inspire the notion of finding space; to quieten the feeling of 21st century city living and immerse oneself in a more visceral being. I have been using graphical and illusionary surface qualities that address urban landscapes and digitisation. The outcomes are achieved with self-developed screen printing and casting techniques in clay. I am interested in illusionary and graphical qualities, the optical possibilities of 2D and 3D using clay is a major interest to me as well as systems, mathematics, order - and lack of. The objects that emerge in my work convey movement and shifting perspectives, even blurring that occur within form, scale and surface.

其他說明:

The objects that are emerge in this body of work perceives movement and an abstraction of time that can occur through form, scale and surface. My visual research employed a GoPro whilst cycling around the capital city of London, gathering imagery at speed and observing details beyond an overall view of the streets. Expressed in the pieces are elements of the urban landscape, technology and digital transformation. In an over stimulated world, the aim is to silence the surroundings, disengage with time and offer a world of sensory contemplation to the viewer. ‘Textures of Time’ are works developed on my Masters Degree at the Royal College of Art. My techniques use traditional screen printing processes with unconventional casting processes using Parian porcelain. The clay posesses translucent qualities that gives depth to beautifully subtle surfaces of texture and print. The effect is almost lenticular, the surface shifts and changes dependant on where you view the pieces from.
