Concept of artwork 設計理念:
My works are made of fragments. Fragments of matter, objects and images - fragments of moments. By gathering material, splitting it apart and putting it back together, I am creating a temporal monument. A monument to an event in time, but also a monument to time itself. This particular work has emerged from the materials, images and memories gathered during a walk in a pine forest in South East England several years ago.

其他說明:
I use the chemical and physical processes of ceramics to reveal hidden properties inside my found and foraged materials. The remnant surfaces, shards, fluids and powders are then aggregated and allowed to flux, flow and fix in the kiln. In this work, mud from a puddle in a forest is mixed into porcelain (and other clays) and fired to 1260, fragments of this fired modified clay are gathered with lumps of raw fluxed porcelain, photographic transfers, porcelain imprints of children’s shoes and other glazes. Porcelain’s special properties are used in different ways - its purity transforms dirty brown mud into a soft pinky grey, its liquidity stretches images and splits pixels, its chemistry glues together a meshwork of fragments - suspended in a moment of coming together and falling apart. Explanation of modified porcelain materials > Porcelain with 10% addition of forest puddle mud > Porcelain imprints of children’s wellington boots, fired to 1260 with a green/pink glaze (Tin/Chrome). > Porcelain with addition of fluxes, frit and silica (aka gloop glaze) = 50% porcelain. > Ceramic transfers of photographs applied onto raw gloop glaze (stretch and distort as the glaze melts).
