Concept of artwork 設計理念:

The wall clock Sol turns timekeeping into a mysterious riddle, the solution of which becomes possible only with knowledge of the binary system. The representation of time by the two exclusive states "light on" and "light off" (1 and 0) results in cyclically different graphic patterns of luminous surfaces, which bring an aesthetic appeal to the technical-mathematical approach. The language of technology can be this beautiful.

其他說明:

To unknowing viewers, Sol shows itself as a decorative light object through its reduced formal language. The selective accessibility of the time information - only for insiders - enables its use in areas where the constant presence of time is perceived as unpleasant. The time is then available to insiders without having to expose the customer or visitor to the stress factor of time. What is exciting is that the binary system is nothing new. From the "I Ching" 64 hexagrams are handed down, which can be interpreted as binary numbers. This interpretation did not take place until the 18th century by Bouvet and Leibniz. It is fascinating how so much information can be transmitted with only 0 and 1. The light pattern I developed, which is based on the binary system, changes every minute. With a simple instruction, the user can read the clock.

an elegant designed object underpinned by an interesting concept.

Functional, yet aesthetically pleasing and a little mysterious.
