Dr Christopher McHugh is the Course Director of Ulster University BA Hons Ceramics, Jewellery & Silversmithing. He specialises in ceramics and printmaking, often creating artwork in response to archives, museum collections and particular communities.

Dr Christopher McHugh has been Lecturer in Ceramics at Belfast School of Art, Ulster University, UK, since January 2017. He became Course Director of BA Hons Ceramics, Jewellery & Silversmithing in 2019. He also teaches on the MFA Design course and supervises PhD students. He specialises in ceramics and printmaking, often creating artwork in response to archives, museum collections and particular communities. His current research employs art-archaeological approaches to explore the recent past of the post-war ceramic figurine industry in Japan. He was awarded a PhD in Ceramics from the University of Sunderland, UK, in 2015. He exhibits widely in the UK and internationally.
