Concept of artwork 設計理念:

I enjoy exploring the ideas around geometry, nature and human response, in the case of Grid. Dots. Form - something that can fit comfortably in the hand. This makes the work feel friendly and approachable. The surfaces have been treated to intentionally encourage someone to want to touch it, see how it feels and if that connects or matches up with what we see. Art can have barriers between the viewer and the work, yet materials have haptic characteristic. Visceral qualities and viscerality are important human instincts; they affect our emotions, thoughts and response and don't always feel easy to explain. I have also used the idea of familiarity with the sculpted or worn pebble shape, the bases signify shadows or highlight the way the object connects with the surface it sits on. These are all primitive and basic considerations for design and art. This project combines this thinking whilst making beautiful ceramics with satisfying values both simply and thoughtfully.

其他說明:

Through the exploration of porcelain surfaces and inlay effects using geometric or graphic applications to cast objects, I have used minimal colouring and subtle highlights. The forms were made using equal mass of material to sculpt three smooth pebble shapes, to investigate a sense of how things appear different but are in fact, very similar. The contours vary and area to cover with mark making; slicing into the clay, projecting, indenting, masking and sand blasting, sanding, polishing. Deciding where to apply, what to leave as space are all about construction and composition. Sometimes things feel just right, instinctively and that harmony does not need so much description.

For me it is an reminiscence. This kind of objects have been done about ten years ago by designers from the Royal College, London, But the new is how the surface has been decorated to create a symbiosis of shape and decoration. The mission is clear: make people hays touching and looking to the object
