If you look at various works that reinterpret tradition, there are ambiguous parts of the explanation. These parts gathered to think about what the meaning of the current tradition is and how to interpret it. In the meantime, I thought that if many people gathered to discuss tradition and modernity, a good answer would be drawn.

Dancheong refers to decorating traditional Korean wooden buildings beautifully and solemnly by drawing patterns in various colors. In other words, it's Danbyeok. It's true color. It's five colors. It is also called tanshichi. It is not yet known exactly when Dancheong was used as an architectural system in Korea. The structure expressed in the mural paintings of Goguryeo tombs is colored and the buildings are decorated, indicating that the Dancheong method was already adopted during the Goguryeo period. Originally, it was meaningful to improve the preservation of buildings and vessels, and to hide scratches to express the dignity of the building. In Buddhist art, we limit ourselves to the meaning of decorative paintings on Buddhist architecture and other Buddhist works. Korean palaces and temples are generally elegant and plain. However, if you look under the eaves or on the ceiling, you will be fascinated by its splendor. I tried to express the Korean sentiment that I could feel in my life by incorporating this reversed beauty of dancheong into everyday objects called stools.
