In modern-day life there has been a breaking down of the old tight-knit communities of the past. There is more individualism and technology seems to make this worse. Humans are social beings and we deal with modern-day stresses in different ways – drugs and alcohol but also shopping, eating, changing our behaviour and looks to fit in with our new ‘tribe’.
