Concept of artwork 設計理念:

Modern Rituals is a collection of multifunctional stackable tableware pieces that have been inspired by the Memphis design movement, in particular the ceramic totems by Ettore Sotsass. The stackable component was created with the intention of sparking new experiences in how we display and use our functional objects that serve us so well. The collection itself consists of a range of cups, plates, and bowls, all of which can be stacked and interlocked within each other to create quirky and playful sculptures which bring new meaning and value to our everyday objects. The collection also challenges how we present and display our food, especially by using the foot rings of the bowls to serve as pedestals in presenting food. The cups themselves are multifunctional whereby the deep foot rings can be used as egg cup holders or for any other food items. By playing around with where functionality is in the work, you can enjoy new ways of utilising these objects.

The porcelain-based clay allows the collection to be lightweight and hardwearing. The dimensions of the work vary as the collection consists of ten different pieces including three cups, three different sized bowls, three different seized plates and a vase. The glaze is a transparent one, and the clay has been coloured using body stains of blue, yellow and pink as well as leaving some pieces white. The colours were chosen for their contemporary and fresh look which also complements each other.

I appreciate this aesthetic, it's playful, interactive. An interesting way to experience a meal, set the table or stack the dishes away.
