Concept of artwork 設計理念:

The Wasteland project investigates the up cycling of industrial byproducts in the development of a collection of objects, which explores the borderline between artistic intention and materialistic innovation, in a context which might inspire people to reflect upon human impact on earth. As the global population increases so does the consumption of goods, and the creation of waste, which ends up in landfills where it runs the risk of polluting fresh groundwater and surrounding ecosystems. By incapsulating toxic byproducts in porcelain, glaze and glass, further contamination is avoided, through the firing process of 1280 ° C, natural matter burns away and unknown metals melts, forming a visual manifestation of its toxic nature. I hope to inspire society to observe the drastic over production of waste in a biogeo-sociological context. By questioning material innovation, my goal is to make a difference in how we perceive consumption and materiality in a human context. The Wasteland sculptures aim to demonstrate the threats and the potentials of waste materials, which modern infrastructure have generated in abundance.

A very timely and relevant concept around consumption and wate with an interesting aesthetic provocation in the form of oblique sculptural forms.

This is a very excited body of work which uses toxic and waste products in contemporary works of ceramic art. As individual works, the objects are made with great skill and sincere and deep thought. I feel this work is a strong contender as a Rising Star award winner.
